2019 Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) Regional Summits
The Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs, in coordination with the Pennsylvania Department of Health, convened eight regional MAT Summits in the fall of 2019. The purpose of the summits was to promote awareness of MAT options, provide strategies for success in using MAT, and increase the number of practitioners using the waiver to prescribe buprenorphine in an office-based setting.
Each full-day summit began with four hours of waiver training for practitioners to prescribe buprenorphine in an office-based setting (remaining training hours for the waiver were taken on-line). The remainder of the day opened to a wider audience with plenary sessions and breakout sessions. A few notable facts about the summits:

Across all eight summits, the afternoon breakout sessions were led by:
- 18 presenters and co-presenters from seven health systems
- Panelists from eight managed care organizations
- 26 presenters and co-presenters from other organizations
| A total of 84 individuals attended the morning waiver training, and almost 500 attended the afternoon sessions.

Each participant received a toolkit with valuable resources. In the evaluations, 97% of the respondents agreed it was a helpful resource to which they would refer to in the future.
